Laura Papi

Laura Papi is Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at the University of Florence. She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1984 and obtained a Ph.D. in 1990 and a MS in Medical Genetics in 1995. Her main research activities are focused on inherited syndromes that predispose to the development of tumors and in particular on: a) Neurofibromatosis type 2: characterization of extensive rearrangements of the NF2 gene in Italian patients and evaluation of genotype-phenotype correlations with the help of International collaborations; b) Schwannomatosis: definition of the clinical phenotype and research of the involved genes; c) Hereditary breast-ovarian cancer: assessment of the incidence of hereditary forms in the province of Florence, their molecular characterization and assessment of clinical surveillance protocols.
