Elena Lastraioli

 

Prof Elena Lastraioli obtained her degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Florence in 1999 and a PhD in Experimental Pathology and Oncology in 2005 at the same University. In 2009 she got the Specialization in Medical Genetics at the University of Florence. She underwent more than 10 years postdoctoral research and become Assistant Professor (RTDa and RTDb) in 2019. She is currently Associate Professor at the University of Florence. 

Her main research areas are focused on histology and molecular analysis of tumour tissue and cell free DNA in human solid tumours to evaluate clinical correlates and to search for potential new biomarkers in oncology.  Moreover, she is involved in the liquid biopsy-based studies on rare diseases to unravel genetic and epigenetic alterations that could help in the patients’ management.
