Claudia Manfredi
Claudia Manfredi is Associate Professor of Bioengineering, Department of Information Engineering, University of Florence, Florence, Italy. Her research activity deals with the development of efficient techniques for identifying, modeling, analyzing and classifying signals and images of biomedical interest, particularly for the study of the human voice as related to brain dysfunctions. The study is extended to singing voice for educational purposes and occupational voice dysfunctions for the medico-legal aspects. She also deals with the development of methods for the automatic analysis of facial asymmetries and expressions related to emotional states, particularly for the early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. Applications concern newborns, children, adults and elderly for diagnosis and rehabilitation in subjects with neurological disorders, also as related to other clinical parameters. She collaborates with several public and private bodies, in Italy and abroad: Firenze: AOU Careggi, Osp. Pediatric A.Meyer, Osp. S.Giovanni di Dio, IRCCS Don Gnocchi, Villa le Terme; Pisa: Osp. Stella Maris, Roma: Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Milano: Osp. Maggiore. Brussels: Univ. Libre and Ist. of Occupational Diseases, Liège: Pediatric Hospital; Mexico: INAOE and ICA. Since 1999 Prof. Manfredi organizes and coordinates the series of international conferences: "International Workshop on Models and Analysis of Vocal Emissions for Biomedical Applications - MAVEBA", Firenze, sponsored by IEEE-BME, ECRF, ISCA, AIIMB, INFM, AISV, Elsevier. She is the editor of the MAVEBA Proceedings: http://www.fupress.com/ricerca?q=maveba. Since its foundation Claudia Manfredi is the Italian coordinator of the World Voice Voice Day (www.world-voice-day.org). She is a member of the editorial board of the journal: Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, Elsevier Eds., UK, and of: "Pan European Voice Conference" (PEVoC), Collegium Medicorum Theatri (CoMeT), National Bioengineering Group (GNB), IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC). She is responsible for several research projects. She is author and co-author of over 200 publications on international and national journal and conference proceedings.
